I agree with you 100% that comps are pointless. Having students write five 10 page research papers every 2 weeks is obsurd, especially when you are taking other classes and working. So I decided to research how other school's conduct their master's programs. I went to 3 different websites (universities) and looked at what they did for their comps.

These school all have exams (like our other choice). I know the papers are pointless but they do help for people like me...people who can't take tests. I am an awful test taker and as much as I complain about the papers, I am glad I have the choice.
